Some of my photos of Peruvian brass bands have appeared in unexpected places, like the cover of an issue of Latin American Music Review. One photo appeared on websites like Phys.org in conjunction with an article (not written by me) about musical universals that was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
